Most of the refuge interior is closed to public entry while the geese are in residence from Oct. 1-March 30.

Description: The 2,492-acre refuge offers wildlife observation areas as well as trails that meander through wetlands, upland prairies and oak/ash forest and interpretive exhibits.

Description: This 40-acre park features towering trees, nature trails, a miniature Japanese garden, picnic sites, playground areas, and a suspension footbridge that spans the shallow Rickreall Creek.

The arboretum is open year round for self-guided tours, 5:30am-10:30pm.

Description: The varied terrain of the arboretum (a living museum of native plants) provides ecological niches suited to perennials, conifers, oaks, wetland species and dry land desert plants.

Ritner Creek Covered Bridge

Description: The bridge has Gothic windows, a cedar shake roof and is the only remaining structure of its type in Polk County.
