The Salem Convention & Visitors Association (SCVA) is seeking an energetic, professional with strong written, verbal and organizational abilities. Excellent writing and public speaking skills essential for working with domestic and international media and community. Prior position in public relations or communications required. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications and general database programs. Knowledge of Salem area necessary. Vehicle required. Ability to lift and carry 35#. TOURISM ECONOMIC IMPACT IN SALEM AREA INCREASES IN 2007

Tourism is big business in Salem and a vital economic generator, confirmed by a recently released study, Economic Impacts of Travel 1992-2007, Salem Oregon. According to Portland based market research firm Dean Runyan Associates, Salem's visitor spending was $239 million in 2007 an increase of 7 percent. SCVA's Convention and Tourism programs meet regularly with a group of Salem area marketing and sales representatives to discuss marketing partnerships, cooperative efforts and bring forward marketing opportunities.
