TIP TEENS Have the TEEN SPIRIT at Mission Mill Museum

WHAT: Mission Mill Museum Teen Interpretive Program (TIP)
WHERE: Mission Mill Museum, 1313 Mill Street SE, Salem, OR, 97301
WHEN: Ongoing This Summer, Monday through Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This summer, teens have the teen spirit at Mission Mill Museum!

They are part of TIP – the Teen Interpretive Program – and are earning school credits to wear costumes and take on a living history persona.

These students, from schools throughout the Salem area, have worked hard to research characters, write skits and perform.  They can’t wait to teach you hands-on history as they greet visitors, work in the herb garden, harvest wheat, churn butter, play games or spin wool.

Mission Mill Museum also offers two summer day camp programs:  Mission Mill Players and Mission Mill Mini-Players.

Mission Mill Players is a week-long day camp that offers children ages 8 to 12 a true living history experience. Children learn the history of the site and learn what pioneer life was like as they portray early western characters, wear costumes, play exciting games, and do fun crafts. Costumes are provided; children are asked to bring a sack lunch and a bottle of water. The seven weekly sessions begin July 7 and run through August 22, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  The cost for Mission Mill Players for one weekly session is $50 for members, $60 for non-members.

Children ages 5 to 7 can participate in Mission Mill Mini-Players Summer Camp.  While not dressed in costume, Mini-Players experience the past through hands-on activities such as pioneer games, crafts and cooking, as well as Christmas in July.  Snacks are provided.  The three weekly sessions run Monday through Thursday, July 7 through July 24, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  The cost for Mission Mill Mini-Players is $40 for members, $45 for non-members.

Registration Deadline is the Friday of the week before each camp.  After the registration deadline please call for availability.  Camps will be cancelled if registration minimums are not met.  Please register early!!!
